Cotton is a textile fibre, obtained from the cotton wool that wraps the seeds of plants of the Gossypium genus.
Its weaving originates in prehistory: fragments of cotton fabric dating back to the 5th millennium BC were found in the Indus Valley Civilization.
Although it has been cultivated since ancient times by selecting more productive varieties, it was the invention in 1793 of the machine cotton gin that reduced its production costs, leading to its widespread use.
To date, cotton is the most used natural fiber fabric in clothing.

Jacquard loom is a type of weaving loom that has the ability to perform complex designs. It is a normal loom to which a machinery has been added that allows the automatic movement of the individual warp threads. Probably the most important invention in the field of the textile industry, it allows the production of fabrics, even very complex ones, with the work of a single weaver. For being the first application to use a punched card, it is considered the ancestor of the calculator.

100% Made in Italy product, the fabric is handcrafted on dated looms.
